History and Happenings
of West End United Methodist Church
West End is "visitor friendly"
and invite you to join us in any of our services and activities.
West End United Methodist Church was established in August, 1945 by several dedicated individuals. Through these past fifty-six years it has been a blessing to many families, and has served the community well.
The church is dedicated to biblical teaching in our Sunday School and our Morning Worship Service.
In 2001, many members of West End UMC participated in Wytheville's Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society sponsored event to raise money for cancer research. West End provided a buffet for the cancer survivors and their caregivers before and after the opening Survivors' Walk lap. Because cancer has touched the lives of many parishioners, West End United Methodist Church is starting a cancer support group for survivors and care givers in 2001 also. They will meet in Grace Hall at the church on the third Thursday of each month.
The church has a United Methodist Women's group called "Spokes of God" that meet on the second Thursday of each month and their current project is gathering materials for baby layettes to send to an African mission.
The United Methodist Men get together for a monthly breakfast on the third Saturday of each month in Grace Hall at 7:30 in the morning.
A youth drama group has just been formed and is going on their first mission trip in June, 2001 to two small churches in Tennessee.
There is a Young-At-Heart group for those over 55 years young that meets monthly on the first Monday for a covered dish dinner at 12:00 noon.
We invite you to worship, to learn, to serve and to join in fellowship with us.
